Short answer: the first-generation Raumfeld One M is invisible to every version of the Teufel Raumfeld app newer than roughly 3.x. It is not a hardware fault. No firmware update fixes it. The setup discovery protocol changed when Teufel overhauled the app, and the older hardware never received a matching patch. The fix is app version 2.7 — the last release that still speaks the original protocol.

How to Tell You Have a First-Generation Device

Teufel distinguishes generations by two visual clues. First-gen devices have an external Wi-Fi antenna on the back, and the front displays Raumfeld or Raumfeld by Teufel branding. Second-gen units dropped the external antenna and gained a double LED on the front. That stubby antenna is the giveaway — it confirms the generation, and it confirms you need the old app.

Music Assistant is an open-source audio platform that integrates with Home Assistant and reaches Raumfeld devices through DLNA/UPnP — no version-specific app required. Setup takes more effort, but once running, Teufel app versions become irrelevant. First-gen Raumfeld hardware exposes a UPnP renderer natively. One known quirk: the device firmware sometimes advertises itself more than once, so Music Assistant may show duplicate entries. Disable the extras, leave one active.

Firmware Recovery as a Last Resort

Teufel’s support documentation covers a full firmware reinstallation procedure for Raumfeld devices, using an Ethernet connection and a locally served web interface on the device itself. It does not close the app compatibility gap, but it can clear corrupted state that sometimes compounds the detection problem. Worth running through before writing the hardware off entirely.
